Just like all Dissociatives, 3-Meo-PCE is an NMDA receptor antagonist, meaning that once it has passed the blood-brain barrier, it binds with NMDA receptor proteins. This binding causes the NMDA receptors to close, reducing communication between electrical impulses traveling up the spine and the brain. This interruption of communication is what inevitably causes the psychoactive effects of dissociatives, including 3-MeO-PCE.
