4F-MPH ist ein synthetisches Molekül der substituierten Phenethylamin- und Piperidinklassen und ein fluoriertes Analogon von Methylphenidat. Es enthält einen Phenethylaminkern mit einem Phenylring, der über eine Ethylkette an eine Amino-NH2-Gruppe gebunden ist. Es ist Amphetamin strukturell ähnlich und weist eine Substitution an Rα auf, die in einen Piperidinring eingebaut ist, der am terminalen Amin der Phenethylaminkette endet. Außerdem enthält es ein an R2 oder dessen Struktur gebundenes Methylacetat. 4F-MPH ist strukturell identisch mit Methylphenidat, mit Ausnahme eines einzelnen Fluoratoms, das an die 4-Position des Phenethylamin-Kerns gebunden ist.
