What Is Etizolam
Etizolam, also known as Etilaam and Etizest, is a thienodiazepine anxiolytic (anxiety inhibiting) of the Benzodiazepine class. Etizolam was first patented in 1972 by the Yoshitomi Pharmaceutical Company and received medical use approval in 1983. While it continues to be prescribed medically in some countries, it has been banned in others due to its abuse potential.
Like all Benzodiazepines, Etizolam is a central nervous system depressant and works by binding to benzodiazepine receptor sites, resulting in a change in the brain's neurotransmitter levels.
Chemical Properties Of Etizolam
Chemical Formula: C17H15ClN4S
Full Name: marked under several different names
Molar Mass: 342.85 g/mol
Purity: >98%/
Etizolam is a rapidly absorbed, fast-acting benzodiazepine that functions as a central nervous system depressant. Upon ingestion, Etizolam is metabolized into alpha-hydroxyetizolam and quickly crosses the blood-brain barrier. Once this occurs, the compound acts as a GABA receptor agonist; the compound binds with benzodiazepine and GABA receptors found at post-synaptic nerve endings.
When GABA binds to a GABA-receptor protein, it has a calming effect on the Central Nervous System. Chemicals of the Benzodiazepine class exhibit the same effect, only much more potent. Because of this, Benzodiazepines are often prescribed to combat anxiety convulsions and muscle spasms.
Note: Etizolam isn’t approved for human consumption, it is for laboratory-based usage. To avoid any accidental contamination always wear gloves and goggles when handling, as it can absorb harmful amounts of chemicals through the skin.Very little is known about this compound and researchers should proceed with caution, especially when it comes to accumulation.
Etizolam Legality
For both prescription and research purposes, Etizolam is legal in many countries around Europe. Exceptions to this include Belgium, France, Germany, Poland, Switzerland, and Denmark - countries in which Etizolam has been declared a controlled substance. In all other countries, one can buy Etizolam legally.
As of July 2013, researchers can legally buy Etizolam in the UK.
